The Conversations About Race & Ethnicity (C.A.R.E.) and C.A.R.E. Speaks series represent cornerstone initiatives in my commitment to fostering dialogue, understanding, and action within the realms of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). These programs are emblematic of my approach to DEI work—grounded in the belief that meaningful change begins with open, honest conversations and the acknowledgment of our diverse experiences and challenges.

Conversations About Race & Ethnicity (C.A.R.E.)
The C.A.R.E. program is designed as a dynamic, dialogue-driven space for members of educational communities to engage deeply with issues of race and ethnicity. It operates on the premise that understanding one's racial and ethnic identity, along with the experiences of others, is fundamental to dismantling systemic oppression and building more inclusive environments. Through facilitated discussions, workshops, and critical reflection sessions, participants are encouraged to explore their assumptions, confront biases, and commit to actionable change towards racial equity. My role in enhancing and expanding the C.A.R.E. program was to ensure that it not only served as a platform for dialogue but also as a catalyst for community transformation.

C.A.R.E. Speaks Series
Building on the foundation of the C.A.R.E. program, the C.A.R.E. Speaks series was conceived as an extension that brings topical issues to the forefront through a series of engaging talks and discussions. This initiative aimed to address timely and critical issues affecting marginalized communities, ranging from anti-Black racism in the AAPI community to the protection of Black women, the history of Black disability, and the nuances of anti-Blackness and racism within LGBTQ+ communities. By inviting thought leaders, activists, and community voices to share their insights and experiences, the C.A.R.E. Speaks series amplified the conversation around DEI, fostering a deeper understanding and solidarity among diverse groups.

Combining the interactive, educational approach of the C.A.R.E. program with the impactful, issue-focused C.A.R.E. Speaks series reflects my holistic vision for DEI work. It showcases a commitment to not just discussing DEI in abstract terms but actively engaging with the complexities and nuances of these issues in real-world contexts. Through these initiatives, I aim to cultivate a culture of continuous learning, empathy, and action that resonates beyond the confines of the programs themselves, contributing to a broader movement towards inclusivity and justice in every community I touch.
